“Goldilocks was very tired, so she went upstairs to the bedroom. She lay down in the first bed, but it was too hard. Then she lay in the second bed, but it was too soft. Then she lay down in the third bed and it was just right. Goldilocks fell fast asleep.”
It’s important to get enough sleep. But when it comes to pillows, I’m like Goldilocks – or even worse! I’ve gone through a lot more than just three pillows before finding the perfect one.
A pillow is great as long as it feels soft and luxurious, but mine never seemed to provide any lasting comfort. It doesn’t matter whether the pillow is for side, back, or stomach sleepers, because I’m all over the place when I sleep. Cotton, polyester, buckwheat, down, microbead, memory foam, I tried them all. I hate it when they start out fluffy but soon go flat. And the memory foam pillow that I got was hard as a rock and didn’t mold to my shape at all, what’s up with that?
So I was browsing through the pillows on Amazon one day and came across the OXA Pocket Spring Pillow. I bought one for my mom (she needed a comfortable, cool pillow for her back) under the guise that I could then try it too. This pillow was advertised for people with neck or back pain, as it’s specially designed to keep your spine properly aligned. It’s also recommended for those with headaches and insomnia, as well as asthma and allergy sufferers. My mom used this pillow for about a month while she was laid up and it worked for supporting her back. Then when she no longer needed it as a back cushion, I took it to use as a bed pillow.
Honestly, the OXA Pocket Spring Pillow is a fine versatile pillow for anyone and everyone. It’s nice and comfy without being overstuffed. Not too soft, not too hard. Even though the pillow is not super plump, it’s not flat either. It’s a happy medium and it won’t flatten out or get lumpy with use. The best thing is, with over 40 individual pocket springs that move up and down independently, any size head will be perfectly cradled in any position. Don’t worry about getting poked by springs; they’re deep inside the padding. I wouldn’t even know it was a spring pillow just by feeling it, but they give just the right balance of squish and support.
Though not a cooling pillow per se, the gusset around the edge of the OXA Pocket Spring Pillow is made of breathable mesh fabric, which will be good on hot summer nights by allowing air to flow in and out. The cover is 100% cotton and the fill is polyester microfiber. It’s a regular-sized bed pillow at 26″ x16.5″ so it fits a standard pillowcase. (Here’s a tip: even if you buy cheap sheets, you can splurge on a high-thread-count 100% cotton luxury pillowcase, and your face will love you for it.)
The OXA Pocket Spring Pillow comes compressed in a vacuum-sealed plastic bag and a stylish outer zippered bag with a handle. After removing the pillow, you can use the zippered bag for storing an extra blanket or sheets, which provides a nice added value for your purchase. You could even put the pillow back in the bag and carry it with you if you’re going traveling or on a sleepover or something. Just like the pillow came packed flat and expanded when opened, you can push it down and it bounces right back.
For sure, this is one pillow that always keeps its shape. You never have to fluff it up, it’s always ready so all you have to do is plop your head down on it and go to sleep. I actually look forward to laying my head on my OXA Pocket Spring Pillow, and I think it helps me to fall asleep by nestling my head in place, keeping it snug and supported. I agree with the claim that this pillow keeps your spine properly aligned, because it’s like having one that automatically adjusts to the correct height for you, so your neck isn’t bent out of joint.
With three months one year of steady use so far, the OXA Pocket Spring Pillow has been well worth every penny I paid for it. Even after a stressful day at work or a late night out, I fall asleep well and wake up feeling refreshed. Moreover, my OXA Pocket Spring Pillow was a wonderful comfort to me at a time when I was sick and feverish, and I was able to contort it in all kinds of ways without ruining it. This pillow actually comes with a one-year warranty, but I can’t imagine ever having to use it.
Alternative uses for the OXA Pocket Spring Pillow would be to keep it in the car in its protective zippered bag as a travel pillow. If you’re short, maybe you can even use it to raise the seat up enough so you can see over the steering wheel. It also makes a nice comfortable back cushion for when you’re sitting on a hard wooden or metal chair, and even for someone in a wheelchair, because it conforms to your shape and it’s soft but not too thick. I don’t have pets, but if you do, I bet your little dog or cat would love it too.
After trying lots of different pillows over the last few years, I think I can finally say that my search for the best pillow is over. Not just me, but three people in my house now have an OXA Pocket Spring Pillow. If you don’t like your pillow, try this one!
