Dear Readers,
Happy December! Are you feeling the Christmas spirit yet? I hope so!
Ever since I was a little girl, my favorite type of music has been Christmas carols. So I always look forward to this time of year, because it just seems kind of weird to listen to Christmas carols at other times.
Indeed, one of the surest signs that Christmas is coming is the music of carols, whether heard over a supermarket’s sound system, on the radio, played by professional orchestras, performed by church choirs, or sung by neighborhood carolers.
Even secular radio stations play seasonal holiday music! But if you want to hear Christmas songs by your favorite Christian singers, you can listen to Family Life Radio.
If you’re looking for something special or a little bit different, you can find every type of Christmas music imaginable on YouTube. Variations range from acappella solos to rich instrumental renditions, in both classic and modern styles.
I can enjoy and appreciate everything from old-fashioned medieval carols and Celtic hymns to neoclassical new-age band Mannheim Steamroller and the rock opera style of Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
If you would like to listen to Christmas music but you can’t stand the normal light-hearted happy tunes and instruments, they even have hard rock and heavy metal versions of classic Christmas melodies on YouTube. My favorite is Theatre of Night’s “Christmas Night” album.
Hope you can find the perfect Christmas songs to match your mood! What Christmas music do you like best? Leave a comment!
Happy Homeschooling!
P.S. It happened again! (See last month’s letter for context.) I meant to get this issue published sooner, but I was out of my element working on it away from home, so it took me twice as long. Then I hit the wrong button and sent one article out by mistake before I was done with the rest. Sorry about that!
