August is a month of abundance, offering a wide variety of fresh and flavorful summer fruits and vegetables. This week, we’re still in the “Dog Days of Summer,” which refers to the hottest period of the season, often associated with high humidity and feeling lazy. The days are filled with golden sunshine, perhaps broken by summer thunderstorms.
Your vacation may be over, but there’s still time for family fun. Wrap up summer by going out to explore nature and history at a national park near you in celebration of the National Park Service’s 110th Anniversary. This year, the Perseids will peak on August 12th along with a new moon, which means you’ll have dark skies for meteor viewing.
In September, there’s a subtle shift in the air—a reminder that change is just around the corner. This month brings the excitement of a new school year—a time of fresh starts, crisp unopened books, and the promise of enlightening courses. The long Labor Day weekend gives us one more chance to enjoy the end of summer with picnics and BBQs.
As we turn the page toward the upcoming fall season, I hope you will find time to soak in the warmth, relax a little longer, and carry the light of summer with you into whatever comes next.
