Homeschool moms play a crucial role in their children’s education and overall well-being. All kinds of moms are homeschool moms – rich, poor, single, married, college grads, high school dropouts, stay-at-home moms, working moms, etc. That being said, homeschooling is a serious commitment and never a duty to be taken on lightly. To be a successful homeschool mom, one must have patience, dedication, a sense of humor, and most of all – kids.
Moms decide to homeschool their children for many different reasons. Perhaps their child is struggling in school, or they want to be able to spend more time with their kids. Maybe they are dissatisfied with the quality of public education. More and more moms are choosing to homeschool because they are worried about the mental health or physical safety of their children.
Jenelle Evans, the 32-year-old former reality TV star, announced on April 25, 2024, that she has made the decision to homeschool her three children. She has opted to remove her sons Jace, aged 14, and Kaiser, aged 9, and her daughter Ensley, aged 7 – from their current schooling environment until the end of the academic year.
“Just to update everyone. I have decided that my kids will no longer be attending public school for the remainder of the year and will instead be receiving homeschooling. This decision comes after realizing that their school does not provide a safe environment. I’d prefer not to delve into specifics,” Jenelle disclosed in an Instagram video.
Jenelle Evans first appeared on the reality show 16 and Pregnant during its second season. The episode documented her pregnancy and the birth of her son, Jace Vahn Evans, in August 2009. Jenelle continued her journey on Teen Mom 2, which followed her life as a young mother. The show chronicled her struggles with relationships, legal issues, and custody battles.
In addition to all the other challenges she faced, Jenelle’s tumultuous relationship with her own mother, Barbara Evans, was a central theme on the show. However, after decades of drama, Jenelle was granted full custody of Jace in March 2023, marking a significant milestone. Before then, Barbara had primary custody of Jace.
Jenelle’s parenting journey has been an eventful one from the start, full of personal struggles and other challenges. The choices she made as a young mom have been documented and scrutinized by fans and others. As she matures, Jenelle continues to grow as an individual while navigating motherhood with determination and love.
Jenelle’s decision to homeschool her children puts her up there in the realm of other famous moms like Lisa Whelchel, Chelsea Noble, Angelina Jolie, Jada Pinkett Smith, Kate Gosselin, Mayim Bialik, Kelly Preston, Emma Thompson, and Erykah Badu.
Most of the celebrity moms who decided to homeschool their children made sure that they hired the best private tutors that money could buy. However, hip-hop and soul singer Erykah Badu wanted to educate her three children herself. It looks like Jenelle Evans will do the same.
The former reality TV star has already started taking her children on educational trips to places like the aquarium and local museums as part of their homeschooling routine. Jenelle announced that she’s going to conduct these little trips every day until the kids are officially on summer break starting in late May. We wish her the best and hope she sticks to it!
