Thanksgiving Day Football Games

There were three football games on Thanksgiving. The first game was between the Houston Texans and the Detroit Lions. In the first quarter the Lions scored a touchdown to make the game 7-0 that is how the first quarter ended. The second quarter had four touchdowns in total. The Texans scored the first one to score to tie it up a 7-7, but only minutes later the Lions scored to take the lead again at 14-7. Four minutes later the Texans rebounded with another touchdown to tie it at 14-14, but only 21 seconds later the Lions scored again to take the lead at 21-14 going into halftime. The third quarter wasn’t as eventful but still some scoring. The Lions scored a field goal to increase their lead to 24-14. The rest of the quarter was dominated by the Texans. They scored a field goal and a touchdown in the last six minutes of the quarter to tie it at 24-24 going into the fourth quarter. In the first two minutes of the fourth quarter the Lions scored a touchdown to make the game 31-24. Again the Texans were able to tie the game at 31-31 to send it into overtime. Riding that momentum the Texans scored a field goal to win the game 34-31.

The second game was between the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys. The first quarter was very uneventful the only score was a field goal by the Cowboys to take the first quarter lead at 3-0. In the second quarter the Redskins looked unbeatable by scoring four touchdowns to take a commanding lead at 28-3 heading into halftime. The Cowboys were able to rebound a little in the third quarter by scoring a field goal and a touchdown to make the game 28-13 Redskins. Three minutes into the fourth quarter the Redskins increased their lead to 35-13 by scoring a touchdown. Within the next four minutes the Cowboys scored two touchdowns and a two point conversion to make the game 35-28 Redskins. With three minutes left in the quarter the redskins scored a field goal to make their lead 38-28. Within that three minutes the Cowboys were only able score a field goal to lose the game 38-31.

The final game of the night was between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets. By the end of the first quarter neither the Patriots nor the Jets could score so going into the second quarter the game was tied at 0-0. The second quarter was a very different story from the first quarter. The Patriots scored five touchdowns and the jets scored only a field goal. At halftime the score was 35-3 Patriots. In the third quarter the Jets forced a safety and scored a touchdown to cut into the Patriots lead and make the game 35-12. Within the first five minutes of the fourth quarter the Patriots scored two touchdowns to increase their lead to 49-12. The Jets were only able to score one touchdown the rest of the game on a 49-19 loss to the New England Patriots.

So congrats to the Houston Texans, Washington Redskins, and New England Patriots on their wins and amazing play away from home.

NBA Lockout Update

In the past month the players and the owners have been negotiating the revenue split and what they are going to do so that the season would start by Christmas. They had a two day meeting on November 22-23. They finally came to an agreement on November 26th.  The players will get 51.2 % instead of 57%. The owners will get 48.8 % instead of 43 %. According to the new revenue split the players gave up 3 billion dollars over the next ten years. They said that training camp is starting on December 9th and the season should be 66 games. The season starts on Christmas day with a tripleheader, Boston Celtics at New York Knicks, Miami Heat at Dallas Mavericks, and the Chicago Bulls at L.A. Lakers. Well to sum up this lockout was pretty much about greed and more money. So what we can all get out of this is, that it is all about money and how greed can control us. Greed is something that God says to not let it control us, yet in some way or form we do.
