True Love

The Bible describes the true meaning of love in the thirteenth chapter of 1st Corinthians. The Bible was clear in the verse 1 John 8:4 NIV  that “…God is love” and we can use Jesus as our perfect example of how we should be here on earth. Verses 4-7 of the Love chapter states, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5: It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6: Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7: It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” Jesus as shown in the four gospels was always patient and kind to anyone and everyone who needed healing, teaching or even the casting out of spirits and there were many. Jesus was jealous of no one, He never boasted in the fact that He was God’s son. He wasn’t proud, rude or even for that matter dismissive of anyone that came his way. He never demanded His own way, this is proven true in Matt 26:39 where it says, “a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” And indeed Jesus submitted to His father will, bearing our sins on the cross, which showed us not only His obedience to His father but also his selflessness. We only saw Jesus have a righteous anger. He kept no record of wrong, by asking God in Luke 23:34, before the division of His clothes yet during His persecution, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Jesus didn’t delight in any evil but only in the truth. In fact Jesus stated in John 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” And in John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life…” Jesus trusted in God every step of the way during his crucifixion and He persevered unto the end, He could have called down ten thousand, He could have asked God for Him to make another way for our sins to be cleansed, but instead he never gave up hope, knowing that He would be risen on the third to be seated in Heaven and at the right hand of His Father, Our Lord. So thankfully to Jesus you and I have a prime example of what Love really is. So as we go about our day busy or not lets remember that love as described in the scripture and through Jesus is not a feeling, but instead a way of life.
