What Is the Number One Dream Job Worldwide?

A fascinating new map generated using 12 months of Google search data shows the career that people in each country desire the most. On the map, country names have been supplemented by the dream job wanted by the greatest number of residents.

The map was composed by Remitly, an app that lets users transfer money worldwide. The creators looked at almost 200 job types and analyzed the search volume for phrases commonly associated with researching a new career, thus establishing the most-searched-for job on Google in each country over the past year.

Searches for information on how to become a pilot are at the top in 25 countries – including the US, Canada, UK and Australia – with 930,630 searches overall. Notably, the dream job of being a pilot is “known for its excellent pay, great job prospects and travel opportunities.”

However, the study generally found that careers in the arts and culture sector proved the most popular overall.

Being a “Writer” is second with 801,200 searches, but coming top in 75 countries including India, New Zealand and South Africa.

“Dancer” is third, with the study revealing that it garnered 278,720 searches worldwide and is the most-searched-for profession in countries like Nigeria and Ghana.

Being a “YouTuber” ranks in fourth place with 195,070 searches, coming top in countries including Mexico and Japan.

Fifth is being an “Entrepreneur” (178,380 searches), a profession that has proven to be popular in Madagascar and Guatemala, as well as some other countries.

Becoming an “Actor” is the sixth most popular career with 176,180 searches and top in countries including Turkey and Austria.

Being an “Influencer” is seventh (159,180 searches) and the most-searched-for job in countries such as Spain, Venezuela and Argentina.

Eighth is being a “Programmer” (125,310 searches), a role that has taken the lead in Macedonia and Eritrea.

Ninth place is becoming a “Singer” (121,430 searches), the most popular job in Vietnam.

Tenth place is being a “Teacher” (114,950 searches), which reigns supreme in Malaysia and Brunei.

Hmm… where are the ENGINEERS, aka the builders of civilizations?! And with all the emphasis on STEM these days, SCIENTISTS only rank highly in one country: Somalia!
