The Learning Power of LEGO

In September 2014, the LEGO Group became the world’s largest toymaker in terms of sales and profit, surpassing its top competitors Mattel and Hasbro. According to CFO John Goodwin, “The majority of LEGO sales … [happen] in a short time-span of a few weeks leading up to the holiday season.” But this year the popular LEGO movie helped propel sales 11% higher in the first six months. The Danish company is presently owned by Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, a grandchild of the founder, continuing his grandfather’s legacy of entertaining generations of children. Even teens and adults enjoy building LEGO models. The infographic below takes a look at why LEGOs are so awesome, and shows how they can be used in educational settings.
