There are lots of seasonal jobs available during the winter months! These short-term jobs can be a great way for students to earn extra money during their winter break. They include jobs for people who like to get outdoors in the snow, as well as for those who would rather stay warm indoors.

Here are some of the best options:

  1. Baker: The holidays are a “sweet” time of year; but for the bakers making tasty treats, it’s also the busiest – which puts bakery assistants, cake decorators, and candy makers in high demand.
  2. Retail Sales Associate: Many stores hire extra staff and gift wrappers to handle the holiday shopping rush.
  3. Customer Service Representative: Call centers and online retailers need additional support to answer customer inquiries and take orders.
  4. Christmas Light Installer: They play a key role in transforming homes and businesses with dazzling Christmas lights on trees, roofs, fences, and other outdoor structures.
  5. Santa Claus or Elf: Shopping malls and holiday events hire people to play Santa or elves to entertain children.
  6. Personal Shopper: Holidays and special occasions create high demand for personal gift shopping services, such as finding and buying gifts for clients.
  7. Snow Removal Services: Companies that provide snow removal for driveways and sidewalks need extra workers such as plow driver, shovel crew, or ice scraper during the winter.
  8. Tour Guide: If you live in a tourist area, there may be opportunities to work as a tour guide during the winter months, perhaps even as a musher and dog sled tour guide.
  9. Winter Sports: If you live near a ski resort or winter recreation area, there may be opportunities to work as a ski instructor, snowmobile guide, trail groomer, or ice rink attendant.
  10. Photographer: Holiday events, weddings, and family gatherings often require photographers.
  11. Event Staff: Winter events, holiday parties, and festivals often require temporary staff for setup, operations, and cleanup.
  12. Package Handler: Companies like Amazon and UPS need extra help in their warehouses to manage increased orders, while delivery services like UPS, FedEx, and USPS also hire seasonal drivers to deliver packages during the busy holiday season.

Seasonal jobs can provide extra income and sometimes even lead to permanent positions. Do any of these options interest you?

  1. I know a lady who charges $20 per hour to wrap Christmas gifts for people. You provide the wrapping paper and she comes to your house. If you’re good at wrapping presents of all shapes and sizes, you might want to advertise your services. She includes photos to show the quality of her work. I thought that was a great idea to make a little extra cash at this time of year!
