The number of people receiving a college education is increasing. In fact, between 1990 and 2014, there was a notable increase of 11 percent of people who completed a bachelor’s or higher degree. This means the competition in the job market is becoming increasingly difficult to stand up to. We all have skills and talents to offer, and finding the right area of focus in school is the first step. There are a variety of career options and opportunities to understand as you prepare to make a positive change in life, contribute to society, and make a difference in the world.

Public Relations

Since the advent of the Internet, we are more connected than ever before. Because of this, it’s important for businesses to have a strong public relations team to help establish and maintain a positive outlook to both the community and the world. There are a broad range of possibilities in the field of public relations including, account director, chapter relations, editor, lobbyist, media relations manager, public relations director, media and communications manager. There are a variety of skills and talents that can be utilized in this multi-dimensional field. Current job outlook statistics indicate that, by 2020, there will be a growth rate of 23 percent.

Externship Programs

While you can spend hours in a classroom taking notes and trying to understand your field, the best way for many to learn is through hands-on opportunities. As you seek out a school where you will learn your trade, it’s a good idea to inquire whether or not they offer externship programs, like those available at Interactive College of Technology. Externship programs and job training opportunities are important parts of education that should be thought about. They allow you to shadow a professional in the industry to see what they do on a typical day. Make sure you find out how long they last as they can be anywhere from a single day to several weeks.

Internet Marketing

A growing number of people are turning to the Internet for many things in their life. From dinner ideas to online businesses and more, it’s a valuable resource. By pursuing a career in Internet marketing, you can take advantage of a field that’s steadily building momentum.

A Career, Not a Job

Most people can find some type of employment to pay for basic needs. However, they often fail to deliver the level of enjoyment you deserve. By understanding your talents and reviewing these options, you can be better prepared to hone your skills for an exciting career you can contribute to while making a positive difference in the world.
