Prager University

PragerU, short for Prager University (https://www.prageru.com), is an American non-profit organization that was founded in 2009 by nationally syndicated talk show host Dennis Prager, with radio producer and screenwriter Allen Estrin.

Prager University produces short animated video lectures to teach fundamental concepts on various life subjects. PragerU’s lecture series has enjoyed wide success and for good reasons. In each video a noted academic, media personality, or other well known person addresses a particular issue in a practical and straightforward way, usually in five minutes or less.

The videos address political, economic and philosophical topics from a conservative or right-wing perspective. The messages are definitely powerful and conclusive in support of Judeo-Christian values. They say that 70% of viewers have changed their mind on an important issue after watching one of these videos! So PragerU is helping to change the world, five minutes at a time.

Despite having “University” in its name, PragerU is not an accredited academic institution and it does not offer certifications or diplomas. Still, many of the 200+ videos are lectured by professors from prominent universities. So even though you won’t get course credit for watching these videos, you are free to learn the best ideas from the best minds distilled into five-minute segments.

These videos can easily be used to supplement an American History, Government, or Civics class. Topics include: economics, environmental science, foreign affairs, left and right differences, life studies, political science, race relations, and religion/philosophy. If you watch the videos at PragerU.com, you can also access the Quizzes, Facts & Sources, Transcripts, and Study Guides that accompany each video.

Prager University was not only established to present conservative videos, but also to offset the undermining of college education by the left. PragerU has a group of student ambassadors—the PragerFORCE—currently enrolled in universities, colleges and high schools, many of whom are members and leaders of campus groups.

As conservatives, these students often find themselves besieged by the intolerant left-wing attitudes that pervade most campuses. But now they are making a real difference by fighting back when it comes to the “War of Ideas” on social and digital media. PragerU releases a brand new video every week, posted on YouTube. PragerU has more than 1.7 million YouTube subscribers and more than three million Facebook followers, many of whom are under 35. BuzzFeed has credited the organization with making content that has “a higher level of polish and professionalism than the other popular conservative digital media outlets.”

However, YouTube evidently does not want young people to hear conservative ideas. They currently list over 80 PragerU videos—over 10 percent of the entire library—under “restricted mode” making it difficult for many young people to access this information.

In response to an official complaint from Prager University, representatives from Google defended their restriction of PragerU videos by saying “your videos aren’t appropriate for the younger audiences.”

Seriously??? Restricted mode is meant to keep inappropriate and objectionable adult and sexual content away from children–not to prevent them from watching animated, age-appropriate, educational videos!

There is simply no excuse for Google and YouTube to censor and restrict any PragerU videos, which are produced with the sole intent of educating people of all ages about America’s founding values. If you believe in the free exchange of ideas, tell YouTube to stop blocking PragerU videos. SIGN THE PETITION. Then view and share the videos!
