Periodic Table of the Elements Light-up Display [Product Review]

Colorful Light-up Periodic Table of the Elements

This Colorful Light-up Periodic Table of the Elements is a great desktop ornament for science lovers! There are 118 elements in the periodic table. Like most periodic tables, it shows their atomic number, symbol, name, and atomic weight. It also has color codes depicting how the elements are grouped according to shared chemical and physical properties, which provide an extra dimension of information.

The periodic table is printed onto the back of a clear piece of acrylic, which is 4.5” tall x 6” wide x ¾” thick. A soft cloth is included for cleaning the acrylic. The acrylic piece sits in the slot of a wooden block with colorful LEDs that illuminate it from underneath. You can set the colors up to stay as one color, or you can rotate through all the different colors. It also works as a night light. The LEDs are powered by a USB plug.

In addition, this cool piece of science art comes with a sheet of cardstock featuring a “Periodic Chart of the Elements in Words” on one side and a “Periodic Chart of the Elements in Pictures” on the other. Both sides are packed full of interesting facts, which makes it a great study aid. Science teachers, chemistry students, or anyone interested in the elements that make up our world will appreciate this item!

Light-up Periodic Table of the Elements with Pictures

This Light-up Periodic Table of the Elements with Pictures is the perfect desktop ornament for a science teacher, chemist, or student. There are 118 elements in the periodic table. Like most periodic tables, it shows their atomic number, symbol, name, and atomic weight. This one is unique because it has pictures of the elements, albeit rather small – and I got the large size!

The acrylic is 5” tall x 8” wide x 1” thick. It’s a highly-polished, heavy piece of acrylic that sits in a slot in the center of a wooden block. The wooden block is 1” tall x 1 ¾” wide x 8” long and is made of light-colored wood. LED lights at the bottom of the slot illuminate the acrylic from underneath. A soft cloth is included for keeping the acrylic clean.

You can set the LEDs to stay as one color, or you can make it rotate through all the different colors. You can also adjust the brightness level. It even works as a pretty good night light. The green light gives the elements a glow-in-the-dark appearance. The purple light gives the display a blacklight effect. The LED lights are powered by a USB plug.

In addition to the decorative 3-D display, there is an educational bonus chart in the box! It’s a two-sided periodic chart printed in color on cardstock with illustrations, folded in quarters like a pocket-sized cheat sheet. It’s full of information about the elements that makes for interesting reading. This set would be a great gift for anyone interested in the elements that make up our world.

If you’d like a scientific decorative element for a desk or shelf, or you’re looking for the perfect gift for your favorite young chemist, consider getting one of the light up displays. They are great decorations. But honestly, if it’s just a Periodic Table of the Elements that you want, you can simply get a laminated chart.
