Dear Readers,
Traditionally, Spring is known as a time of new beginnings – but for me, September is! The new school year has begun with brand new books and new things to learn. It’s the start of autumn, and all the changes that come with a new season, not the least of which is the change in weather. You can always tell when fall is in the air! September is a month of heartwarming traditions, the enchantment of golden leaves, and apple orchards. It’s when I do my fall cleaning and pack up the summer stuff to get ready for the upcoming holidays, while looking forward to pumpkin spice and hot cocoa!
I can’t help but feel nostalgic at this time of year. As a little girl, I loved going to the store and picking out all my new school supplies. Years later, I still get excited when I see ads for all the notebooks, planners, and pens going on sale—though to be honest, what lifelong learner doesn’t? For me, the school year always meant organized notes, interesting lessons, and poring over books I wouldn’t normally think to read. It also meant researching essay topics I didn’t realize I was passionate about, and the sense of satisfaction I’d feel when I finished a project.
Our articles this month recreate some of those same memories. Plenty of us wile away our time reading and studying late into the night. We follow schedules and set ourselves deadlines, and we’re no strangers to the library or the local coffee shop. We’re constantly reading, writing, and learning, and when it’s all said and done, we look at our finished projects and feel that it’s been worth it. Now is the time to embrace the new season, and enjoy the new experiences that come with it. So prepare your notebooks and sharpen your pencils. Class is starting—and yes, there will be homework.
Happy Homeschooling!
