I’m Not Ready

By Katie

Plan your future,
Plan your life,
Plan your college,
Plan, plan, plan.

Craziness swims around,
Consuming my every thought.
Yet, you won’t see the panic inside.

Like the wind pushing against the trees,
The fear will try and push me too.

Though I’m only a year from adulthood,
I still feel like a child.
Don’t make me plan this,
I’m not ready to go.

I may say it over and over,
That I’m ready to leave,
It’s time to go.

I’m not ready.

How do I tell you,
I’m only scared.
I don’t want to be trapped,
Yet I’m unwilling to be alone.

Don’t stay near,
But don’t go far.

The unknown is scary,
I don’t know what to do.

I don’t like your ideas,
and I don’t like my ideas.

Maybe it’s time to take it slow,
And ask God for his ideas.

I’m tired of arguing over the future.
I don’t want to handle the stress alone.
In fact being alone, is the only reason I’m terrified.

So God, what are your ideas?

I can get very passionate about things like the government and my beliefs. I like debating, and just sharing what I know. Out of all the subjects in school I’d say History is my favorite, it may be the past but it’s what shaped the world and changed a lot of things.”
