We received the following email from our friends at the Discovery Institute and wanted you to be among the first to hear about this exciting new high school science curriculum!

Dear Subscriber:
When my wife and I decided to homeschool our kids, we found great resources for most subjects.
But when it came to high school science, we were stumped—especially when it came to high school chemistry. Even though my wife and I are well educated, teaching chemistry to our kids was beyond us.
I know our experience isn’t exceptional. In my work at Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture, I regularly hear pleas from parents for more resources to teach their kids about science, including the scientific evidence for intelligent design.
Don’t get me wrong: We do have some terrific resources already—videos like Long Story Short and Science Uprising, as well a supplementary curriculum called Discovering Intelligent Design.
We used resources like this with our kids. But frankly, we needed more.
We really wanted an online course with a live teacher who could make things clear, excite our kids about science, and answer our kids’ questions. Science is complicated; live interaction with a first-rate teacher is essential to good instruction.
That’s why I’m excited to share about a new strategic program of the Center for Science and Culture to help parents teach their kids science: Discovery Institute Academy.
This online academy will offer high-quality science classes to high school students. The classes will prepare students for college. They will be taught by well-qualified teachers who interact personally with students. They will include innovative online simulations as well as lab experiments you can do at home. And they will integrate evidence for intelligent design, preparing kids beforehand for the claims of scientific atheists they will confront in college.
Our first course—High School Chemistry—is planned for fall. If things go well, we may eventually offer courses in biology and earth sciences and physics. Our ultimate goal? Training thousands of future scientists and doctors who know how science points to a Creator.
In order to launch our first course, we are currently building the curriculum, designing the learning platform, and preparing marketing materials. Long-term, we hope Discovery Institute Academy will be self-financing through tuition. But right now, we need seed funding of $50,000 to enable us to get to the starting gate.
Will you help us build Discovery Institute Academy by making a contribution of $50, $100, $250, $500, or even more? With your support, we can create a resource that your kids, your grandkids, and your friends’ kids can benefit from for years to come.
Think about the future Michael Behes, Stephen Meyers, Ann Gaugers, and Guillermo Gonzalezes you may be able to inspire through this initiative. At a time when many things in our society seem so bleak, why not invest in something to bring about a better future?
