Costa Rica: My Dream Adventure!

By Alexandria Martinez

You know how everybody has a dream vacation? Well, I have something like that but I would describe it as more of a dream adventure. I’m an adventurous soul, I guess you could say. I want to go to Costa Rica. That is something I’ve always wanted to do.

Costa Rica is so beautiful and their food looks amazingly tasty which is a good thing because, I love tacos. I’m a little bit good with my Spanish so that’s a plus! Because, as expected 70% of Costa Rica does speak Spanish.

Here are a couple of fun facts:

  • Did you know that in Costa Rica the sun rises and sets at the same time 365 days a year? That’s honestly so interesting.
  • There have been monkeys randomly on the beaches in Costa Rica. Now that I think of it, that would be a very interesting experience!

When I travel to Costa Rica, the one thing I’ll have to watch out for is snakes and mosquitoes. According to research there are approximately 23 species of venomous snakes.

While I’m there, I want to go hot air ballooning, zip lining, and horseback riding. And, most of all I want to learn how to surf and whitewater raft!

I want to walk through the clouds on the hanging bridge! Just thinking about it feels great and a little nerve wracking.

I almost forgot to talk about the volcanoes! There are plenty of volcanoes in Costa Rica. Some of them are considered active volcanoes.

I’ll definitely have to raise or save up money to get there. Traveling is costly! Another way that’s possibly cheaper is to go with a high school study abroad trip. There are plenty websites that can help you with planning and registering for a study abroad trip.

Just keep in mind, traveling is dangerous, especially if you’re a woman. That’s a story for another time though. Let’s keep this positive. One thing I should say though is that Costa Rica is notorious for petty theft. Its crime rate is somewhat higher than the US. Always remember to be careful and never travel alone.

I was sick for the first half (maybe a little more) of this month, so this article will be shorter than usual! It’s all good though!
