“Beauty” – A Poem by Martha T.

“Beauty”

By Martha Tipton

Long hot summer nights a symphony

Sound of the locust and katydid

In rhythm with the light of fireflies

A song, I listened to the stories told

Forefathers of yesterdays past

Long ago days felt I had to mask

Black, brown, fair skin, defined lips

Coarse hair, through time I realized

God created all, in his image

“Beauty of His Creations, Character of the Spirit”
