The ASUS Vivobook 17 is an affordable laptop computer designed for everyday use, students, professionals, and content creators. It’s a great choice for anyone looking for the perfect blend of power, speed, and features. This is a versatile laptop with durable construction that ensures long-lasting performance and reliability. In fact, it’s built to military-grade standards, so you know it’s going to be sturdy!
The ASUS Vivobook laptop is easily portable, weighing in at a lightweight 4.62 pounds and a manageable 10×16” size that allows you to take it with you on the go, while boasting a full-size keyboard. This laptop is ultra-thin which means it doesn’t have a built-in DVD drive or a mechanical hard drive. I prefer solid state drives anyway, because they’re so much faster, and this one starts up very quickly.
There are various models of the ASUS Vivobook including F1704, F1704ZA, X1704, and even M1605YA. Each of these has slight variations such as screen size (14/15/17”), display (FHD 1920 x 1080 vs. HD+ 1600 x 900), type of processor (Intel Core, Intel Pentium, or AMD Ryzen), and graphics card (Intel UHD vs. AMD Radeon). You can also choose from various RAM memory and SSD storage options. There are plenty of in/out ports for USBs, portable SSDs, headphones, etc.
ASUS Vivobooks come with either Windows 11 Home for general use, or Windows 11 Pro for business use. I even saw a couple of them that had Microsoft Office preloaded (with a lifetime license!), but of course those are more expensive. The AMD versions come with a free month’s use of Adobe Creative software.
The exact model that I bought on Amazon is: ASUS Vivobook 17.3” FHD Daily Laptop, Intel Core i3-1215U, Intel UHD Graphics, 36GB RAM, 2TB SSD, HDMI, Webcam, Wi-Fi, Windows 11 Home, Blue, Bundle with Thunderobot ML101 Purple Wireless Mouse.
The ASUS Vivobook 17 can be easily recognized because it has a lid with a special raised logo tag. It comes in blue or silver, and also supposedly terracotta, although I’ve never actually seen any of that color. I ordered the blue one, but as you can see in the picture it looks more like dark slate gray than blue. It shows fingerprints easily, too, so I have to wipe it off regularly to keep it looking new.
The ASUS Vivobook 17 laptop has a nice wide 17.3” screen and a several other unique features. These include a hygienic antimicrobial surface, a webcam with a sliding cover for privacy, and a lay-flat hinge that lets you lay it down flat on a table. This makes it easy for everyone to gather around and look at a map on the screen, for example.
The thing I love most about the ASUS Vivobook is the ErgoSense keyboard, which is full-size with raised keys. They aren’t mechanical keys, but they’re built higher and have more travel depth than flat laptop keys. This gives me the tactile feel and the satisfying click that I’m used to on my regular computer keyboard. The keys are not backlit, but the white letters on dark keys are easy enough to see.
The ASUS Vivobook charges quickly, and you can work while it’s charging. In the lower right corner of the screen, there’s a battery status icon that shows at a glance how much power you have. On a full charge, I can get a good 4 hours out of it before the battery saver mode comes on, which gives me another hour until I need to plug it in. That’s with multiple tabs open while checking emails and working on a Word document with music playing at the same time – and by the way, the sound quality is better than my PC!
Overall, I’ve been really happy with my ASUS Vivobook laptop! If you’re in need of a laptop computer, I’d seriously consider this one. I definitely recommend it!
