There were a lot of good speeches during the 2020 Republican National Convention, but the one by Maximo Alvarez was probably the most powerful moment of the first night – and yet some of the major networks cut away from it!
Florida businessman Maximo Alvarez, whose family escaped from communist Cuba, gave Americans a history lesson that too many have forgotten. (And sadly, most public school students these days aren’t even taught about the evils of communism!)
“I’m speaking to you today because I’ve seen people like this before. I’ve seen movements like this before. I’ve seen ideas like this before and I’m here to tell you, we cannot let them take over our country.
When I watch the news in Seattle and Chicago and Portland, when I see history being rewritten, when I hear the promises—I hear echoes of a former life I never wanted to hear again. I see shadows I thought I had outrun.”
Alvarez warned of what lies ahead if Joe Biden and the Marxists take control of America. Just look at the state of Latin American countries today, and in particular the downfall of Venezuela.
Biden has already promised that he will be one of the most progressive Presidents in American history. All of the Latin American dictators – Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Nicolás Maduro – claimed the same “progressive” message!
Alvarez came close to tears as he talked about how those in his native Cuba were deceived by Fidel Castro. The Cuban immigrant said that Castro pretended to be something he was not and destroyed Cuba.
“I can never forget all those who grew up around me, who looked like me, who could have been me, who suffered and starved and died because they believed those empty promises,” he said. “They swallowed the Communist poison pill.”
Miami’s Freedom Tower, referred to as the “Ellis Island of the South,” Alvarez described as a place where “you can still hear the sound of those broken promises.”
“It is the sound of waves in the ocean, carrying families clinging to pieces of wood, families with children who can’t swim, but willing to risk everything to reach this blessed land,” he said. “It is the sound of tears hitting the paper of an application for American citizenship.”
Alvarez is worried that Americans could make the same mistake by following the progressive Democrats, because they are authoritarian wolves in sheep’s clothing, just like Fidel Castro.
We already know how much the radical Democrats admire Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, and other revolutionaries. The updated Democrat party platform is now more aligned with Marx’s Communist Manifesto.
“Free education, free healthcare, defund the police? Trust the socialist state more than your family, than your community?”
“They don’t sound radical to my ears, they sound familiar,” Alvarez said of the Marxist talking points.
Alvarez said that today President Donald Trump is “fighting the forces of anarchy and Communism.”
If Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are elected, “I have no doubt they will hand the country to those dangerous forces,” Alvarez said of Democratic rule.
“I choose President Trump because I choose America, I choose freedom,” he declared. “There is no other place to go.”
