- Part 1 (Episodes 1-2): Jesus rides into the holy city as king, but finds his Father’s house has been turned from a place of prayer into a corrupt market. As the Jewish High Priest schemes against the would-be Messiah, Jesus strikes first—turning the tables on religious corruption.
- Part 2 (Episodes 3-5): With betrayal looming and time running out, Jesus gathers His disciples for a final meal as He prepares them for what’s to come.
- Part 3 (Episodes 6-8): The final hours of Jesus’ ministry unfold as He prepares for what’s to come.
Part One releases on March 28; Part Two releases on April 4; and Part Three releases on April 11.

Review
THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER is a crucial chapter of the story, involving landmark events with the disciples, local religious officials, and political authorities. I saw a sneak preview of Part One, Episode One, and it’s awesome! The production value is amazing. The powerful storytelling will blow you away. If you’re a fan of THE CHOSEN like I am, this is the highlight of the series! It’s what we’ve all been waiting for, and let me tell you, it won’t disappoint.
In THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER, I love the joyous high-energy scene in which Jesus rides into Jerusalem on a donkey as the people welcome Him like a celebrity. At that point in time, the disciples still don’t understand what is about to happen to Jesus, and they each have a different idea of what the Messiah is trying to tell them. It’s really something to see the intense emotions that Jesus feels behind the scenes, which nobody’s ever quite captured on film before – and it’s all biblically justified.
THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER chronicles the events of Holy Week starting with Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and his cleansing of the Temple, and of course the Passover meal, and it will almost certainly conclude with His arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane, setting up for the crucifixion in Season 6.
I like how they use the classic “God’s Gonna Cut You Down” song by Johnny Cash as the theme for Season 5. As Cash croons “what’s done in the dark will be brought to the light,” we can’t help but agree. Even though it’s not from scripture, it really fits! Another fitting song that they include is “Chains” by Avi Kaplan, a contemporary singer with a deep bass voice in the style of Johnny Cash. “All of these chains weighing down on me, weighing down…”
THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER was filmed on location at The Salvation Army’s Camp Hoblitzelle in Midlothian, Texas, as well as at the replica Jerusalem set in Goshen, Utah. Here’s a fun fact: THE CHOSEN series was the first time the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints leased their Jerusalem movie set to a production with no affiliation to Mormons. I thought that was interesting. Dallas Jenkins, the director, is Evangelical Christian.
How to Watch
The first three episodes of THE CHOSEN Season 5 will be released in three parts between March and April 2025. Specifically:
- Part One: March 28
- Part Two: April 4
- Part Three: April 11
So you can watch each part as it’s released, and I’m sure die-hard fans won’t want to wait! But don’t worry if you can’t get to the cinema every weekend to see each new episode. According to the official website, “once released, all three parts will remain in theaters for the duration of the theatrical run.” This means Easter weekend will be the perfect occasion to gather your family and watch all three episodes back-to-back!
If you haven’t yet seen THE CHOSEN, now’s the time. The events of Season 5 are well-known enough among Christians that they can stand alone even if you haven’t seen the rest of the TV series. But if you want to get caught up, you can binge-watch the first four seasons in time, as there are only eight one-hour episodes in each. 8×4=32 and there are still three whole weeks before Easter so it’s doable if you start now! Simply watch at least one episode every night and double up on the weekends.
Seasons 1-4 are all available on Amazon Prime. Not a Prime member? Start your free 30 day trial!
