Wow! I just finished watching BIRTHRIGHT OUTLAW and it was quite a wild ride! From beginning to end, with all the clever twists and turns, I never knew what to expect!
At the time I watched it, I had absolutely no idea what this movie was going to be about. I’m glad I didn’t, because that made it all the better. So I’m going to keep you in suspense, too, and not give away much of the plot. But I’ve got to tell you about the amazing opening sequence.
Rarely does a movie make me jump out of my seat during the title credits! But BIRTHRIGHT OUTLAW sure did with its eye-catching black, white, and red graphics hitting me with one surprising thing after another…

Arizona Territory – 1890!
A lone horseman galloping through the desert!
And that’s just the first minute and a half!
The opening sequence really sets the mood of an exciting on-screen adventure, and you just know it’s going to be a unique and different kind of movie. You have to watch carefully, too, because those images give lots of clues about what’s to come. It’s now one of my favorite title sequences, right up there with The Good the Bad and the Ugly, Cowboy Bebop, The Incredibles, and The Chosen. Seriously, it deserves an award!
And now for the rest of the movie…
It’s rare to see a movie about Arizona that’s actually filmed in Arizona! Kudos to them for placing it in an accurate setting. I had to laugh when they kept talking about hunting grouse, though. In Arizona grouse are only found in the forests above 8,500 feet. In the desert they would have been hunting quail or doves.
And please don’t practice shooting by aiming at a cactus. Shooting holes in cacti can kill them. The characters in the movie didn’t actually shoot at any cactus but they talked about it.
As the story goes, husband and wife Jeremiah and Martha live with their only daughter, Hope, in the fictional town of Last Chance, Arizona, a frontier outpost where Jeremiah is the pastor.
Rev. Jacobs reads scripture from Proverbs about wisdom. He also reads a passage from Psalms about not fearing evil, and that the Lord is nigh unto the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
Last Chance, Arizona, is about as far off the beaten path as you can go, where life is peaceful and carefree. That is, until The House Gang, known for sweeping the West with crime and chaos, kidnaps the pastor’s daughter.
Why was this family targeted???
We slowly find out as secrets are revealed, loyalties are tested, and hope is threatened.
Christians, even pastors, have to make difficult decisions sometimes.
BIRTHRIGHT OUTLAW is a faith-based story of redemption, love, and standing up for what you believe — with a classic Western twist!
