Adrian Peterson’s Son Dies

I know that the title of this paper says that it is about Adrian Peterson’s son. First I want to give you a little background on Adrian Peterson. Adrian Peterson is a running back on the Minnesota Vikings. He was born in Palestine, TX on March 21, 1985. His parents Bonita Brown and Nelson Peterson were both athletes in college. Adrian’s father went to Idaho State, he played as a shooting guard; he wanted to be in the NBA but that dream was crushed when his brother was cleaning a gun and it went off and shoot him in the leg. Adrian’s mother went to the University of Houston and was a long jumper and a sprinter. Adrian’s uncle Ivory Lee Brown is a former NFL running back, so Adrian come from a very athletic background. Adrian started to play sports when he was seven to ease the pain of his brother’s death. His brother who was 9 years old was killed by a drunk driver while riding his bike. Football was Adrian’s escape from the world and the pain of losing his big brother. Adrian went to Palestine High School; he graduated in 2004. He then went to the University of Oklahoma; he was there for three years, then in January of 2007 entered the pre-draft for the NFL. In April of 2007 the Minnesota Vikings drafted him in the first round seventh overall. He has been with the Vikings his whole career. Adrian has two children, a daughter Adeja and a son Adrian Jr., but Adrian Jr. is not the son that died. He also had another son who was two years old. Adrian’s two year old son was admitted into a hospital in Sioux Falls, SD the week of October 7 -11 for severe injuries. On Friday the 11th he died from his injuries. It was reported that the child was assaulted by his mother’s boyfriend. Joseph Robert Patterson who is 27 was arrested, he was charged with aggravated assault and aggravated assault on an infant. This man is now out of prison; he posted his $750,000 bond on October 30th. The pre-trial hearing is set to go underway in January of 2014. I wanted to tell this story because it is really tragic that someone would beat a child so badly that he dies from his injuries. It is sad that anyone would beat a child in the first place. Please pray for the Peterson family. Pray that they will get justice for the death of this child and that they will find peace in the Lord Jesus Christ, this I pray in Jesus name, Amen.
