Hyouka is about a guy named Houtarou Oreki. He tries to expend as little energy as possible. Even so, he is freakishly good at logical deduction. At the request of his older sister, he joins the Classics Club in high school. (Why is every anime about high school kids? Seriously.) In the club is Eru Chitanda. Eru is the embodiment of curiosity. When something piques her interest, she won’t let it go until Houtarou figures it out.
Also joining the club are Satoshi Fukube and Mayaka Ibara. They went to the same middle school as Houtarou, so they’ve known him for a while. Satoshi is a living database, who would beat you at Trivial Pursuit with one hand behind his back. (Not that you need both hands for Trivial Pursuit.) Mayaka works in the school library, and isn’t always the friendliest towards Houtarou.
Of note, Houtarou and Satoshi are voiced by Okazaki and Sunohara, respectively. This freaked me out. Satoshi especially. He has a very similar personality to Sunohara, and it took me half the show before I could accept that it was a different character.
