The US Open of Tennis

This year’s US Open winners are Andy Murray of Scotland for the men and Serena Williams of the United States for the women. This is Andy Murray’s first major win to add to his Olympic gold medal. This is Serena Williams’ 15th major win and her fourth US Open.

Andy Murray beat Alex Bogomolov Jr. of Russia in the first round. He beat Ivan Dodig of Croatia in the second round. He beat Feliciano Lopez of Spain in the third round. He beat Milos Raonic of Canada in the fourth round. He beat Marin Cilic of Croatia in the Quarterfinals. He beat Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic in the Semifinals. He beat Novak Djokovic, reigning US Open Champion, of Serbia to win his first major.

Serena Williams beat Coco Vandeweghe of the United States in the first round. She beat Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez of Spain in the second round. She beat Ekaterina Makarova of Russia in the third round. She beat Andrea Hlavackova of Czech Republic in the fourth round. She beat Ana Ivanovic of Serbia in the Quarterfinals. She beat Sara Errani reigning US Open Champion of Italy in the Semifinals. She beat Victoria Azarenka, world number one, of Belarus to win her fourth US Open and 15th major.

Well a huge congratulations to Andy Murray on his first major and Olympic gold medal, and congratulations to Serena Williams on her fourth US Open and 15th major.


Opening Week of Football

The opening week of football was awesome, surprising, and fun to watch. The first game was on September 5th between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. They Dallas Cowboys won the game 24-17. There were 13 games on September 9th. The Chicago Bears beat the Indianapolis Colts 41-21. The Atlanta Falcons beat the Kansas City Chiefs 40-24. The Philadelphia Eagles bet the Cleveland Browns 17-16. The Washington Redskins beat the New Orleans Saints 40-32. The Detroit Lions beat the St. Louis Rams 27-23. The New England Patriots beat the Tennessee Titans 34-13. The Minnesota Vikings beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 26-23. The New York Jets beat the Buffalo Bills 48-28. The Houston Texans beat the Miami Dolphins 30-10. The Arizona Cardinals beat the Seattle Seahawks 20-16. The San Francisco 49ers beat the Green Bay Packers 30-22. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Carolina Panthers 16-10. The Denver Broncos beat the Pittsburg Steelers 31-19. On Monday the 10th of September there were two games. The Baltimore Ravens beat the Cincinnati Bengals 44-13, and the San Diego Chargers beat the Oakland Raiders 22-14. So the first week of the NFL Season was very interesting, and very fun to watch. We had surprise winners and predicted winners. The most surprising wins to me were the Cowboys beating the Giants, the Redskins beating the Saints, and the Broncos beating the Steelers. Sport Events in October

MLB: There are 45 games between October 1 and October 3. Then on October 5 the Playoffs start.

NFL: Week 5: There are 14 games and the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, Oakland Raiders, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a bye week. Week 6: There are 14 games and the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the New Orleans Saints have a bye week. Week 7: There are 13 games and the Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, and San Diego Chargers have a bye week. Week 8: There are 14 games and the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, and Houston Texans have a bye week.

NHL: There are 114 hockey games in October they start on October 13. There is a lockout in the NHL so the games might not start on time, but I will keep you updated.

Men’s Tennis: The ATP Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships and the ATP China Open are from Oct 1 to Oct 7. The Shanghai Rolex Masters is from Oct 8 to Oct 14. The ATP Erste Bank Open, the ATP Kremlin Cup, and the ATP Tour Stockholm Open are from Oct 15 to Oct 21. the ATP Swiss Indoors Basel and the ATP Valencia Open 500 are from Oct 22 to Oct 28. The ATP BNP Paribas Masters is from Oct 29 to Nov 4.

Women’s Tennis: The WTA Generali Ladies Linz presents by voestalpine and the WTA Japan Women’s Open Tennis 2012 are from Oct 8 to Oct 14. The WTA BGL BNP PATIBAS Luxembourg Open and the WTA Kremlin Cup are from Oct 15 to Oct 21. the TEB BNP PARIBAS WTA Championships are from Oct 22 to Oct 27. The WTA Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions is from Oct 30 to Nov 3 this is the last tournament of the year.

PGA Golf Tour: The Justin Timberlake Shiners’ Hospitals for Children Open is from Oct 4 to Oct 7. The Frys.com Open is from Oct 11to Oct 14. The McGladrey Classic is from Oct 18 to 21. The PGA Grand Slam of Golf is from Oct 22 to Oct 24. The CIMB Classic is from Oct 25 to Oct 28.

European Golf Tour: The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is from Oct 4 to Oct 7. The Portugal Masters is from Oct 11 to 14. The Perth International is from Oct 18 to Oct 21. The BMW Masters is from Oct 25 to Oct 28.

Ladies PGA Golf Tour: The Sime Derby is from Oct 11 to Oct 14. The LPGA HanaBank Championship is from Oct 19 to Oct 21. The Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship 2012 is from Oct 25 to Oct 28.
