Do you sleep on a hand-me-down mattress? This is common in large families. But even expensive high-quality mattresses are not built to last forever.
A sagging or worn-out mattress can contribute to poor posture, disrupted sleep, body aches and back pain. Old mattresses can harbor years of built-up dust, allergens, dead skin cells, sweat, bacteria, mold, and dust mites.
So if you have trouble sleeping, wake up stiff and sore, or suffer from allergies or other respiratory issues, it’s probably a good idea to invest in a new mattress. That’s what we just did.
My New Favorite Mattress
I’ve got to say, I love the SUAYEA Twin Size 8 Inch Luxury Hybrid Mattress in a Box! We ordered two of them recently to replace a couple of old bunk bed mattresses. One mattress is white/brown and the other is gray. They’re both equally comfortable, but appearance-wise the gray mattress is definitely my favorite.
I love the abstract design on top of the gray mattress, it’s much more attractive than ordinary white-topped mattresses. It’s almost too nice-looking to cover with a sheet, ha. And I always wondered why they don’t put handles on mattresses to make moving them easier. Well, the stripes you see on the end are actually handles!
Seriously, this is the best mattress I’ve ever had. It far exceeds my expectations for an expandable mattress in a box! It looks and feels luxurious, it’s super soft and comfortable, and very restful to sleep on whether you sleep on your side, back, or stomach. I was the first one to try it out, and I slept really well on a hot summer night.
These mattresses have kind of a springy bounce when you sit on them, but they’re very stable and supportive when you lay on them. When I kneel on it, my knee doesn’t go all the way down to the bottom like a cheap mattress-in-a-box that we bought at Walmart once. That one was only 6 inches thick and floppy, but this one is 8 inches and sturdy.
I’d say the overall firmness of these mattresses is medium, not too soft or too firm. They actually have multiple layers including the soft quilted top (the white one in particular is like a puffy mattress topper), adaptive contouring foam, cooling gel memory foam, pressure relief supportive foam, individual pocket coil springs, and a high-density base with a protective knit cover.
It’s so convenient to be able to buy a mattress on Amazon and have the box dropped off at your doorstep. I was really surprised at how quickly both of these mattresses sprang into shape when we opened them! They’re vacuum sealed into a compact roll and covered with plastic wrap. As we unrolled and unwrapped them, they popped right up instantly. And they’re completely odorless!
These new mattresses are definitely an upgrade to the hard bunk bed mattresses that we used to have. The SUAYEA mattress is 2” higher than the original 6” bunk mattress, but it doesn’t seem to matter when it comes to headroom in the bunk, we didn’t really notice any difference. It would also be great for any twin bed, or as a daybed mattress.
