Letter from the Editor: November 2026

Dear Readers,

Happy November!

As the leaves fall down and the air grows crisp, we pause to reflect on the goodness that surrounds us. Take a look around you. Blessings abound – the laughter of loved ones, the beauty of a glorious sunset, the comfort of a warm bed at night. Small and great, there are plenty of reasons for all of us to look up at Heaven and say to our Creator, “Thank you.”

In the days leading up to Thanksgiving, those of us at Homeschooling Teen magazine are grateful for the people, places, and projects that make our homeschooling community so special. Thank you for your support — and for being part of our story.

While I’m thinking of it, I want to give a shoutout to Mark Oliver, one of our contributors this month. He wrote a couple of clean Christian suspense novels set in San Diego during the holidays: Veil of Thanksgiving and Veil of Christmas. They’re available in paperback and on Kindle!

This month, we also pause to reflect on the courage, dedication, and resilience of our nation’s veterans. We honor those who have served, and those who are currently serving, as well as the families who stand by their side and have to make sacrifices that often go unnoticed.

We’re coming into the season of giving, and you can offer your support by donating to or volunteering for veterans assistance and soldiers care package programs. In addition, Thanksgiving is a great time to help your local soup kitchen, food pantry, or food bank — look for volunteer opportunities through Feeding America, Meals on Wheels, local churches and nonprofits.

By volunteering, you’ll not only help others but also spread the holiday spirit. People who have volunteered say they receive more satisfaction and joy from the experience than they ever expend in inconvenience or effort. By gathering clothes, blankets, toys, or food for the needy, even children can learn responsibility and respect for others.

Wishing you much joy, deep warmth, and endless reasons to be grateful.

What’s one thing you’re thankful for this season? Leave a comment!

Happy Homeschooling!
