The NBA and NHL Seasons Start
The NBA and NHL seasons are about to kick off! The reigning champs for both sports are the NBA’s Miami Heat and the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks. Both seasons start in October. The NHL season starts October 1st. The games that day are the Toronto Maple Leafs vs. the Montreal Canadians at 7 PM ET. The Washington Capitals vs. the Chicago Blackhawks at 8 PM ET the Blackhawks will also be raising their Stanley Cup Winning Banner before the game. The last game of the day is the Winnipeg Jets vs. the Edmonton Oilers at 10 PM ET. The NBA season starts October 29th. The first games of the season are the Orlando Magic vs. the Indiana Pacers at 7 PM ET, the Chicago Bulls vs. the Miami Heat at 8 PM ET the Heat will be raising their Winning Banner before the game and the Los Angeles Clippers vs. the Los Angeles Lakers at 10:30 PM ET. These are the first games of the NBA and NHL Seasons hope you enjoy the seasons and may the best teams win.
The MLB Postseason Starts
The MLB Postseason starts on October 1st with the National League (NL) Wild Card game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates at 8 PM ET. The American League (AL) Wild Card game is on October 2 between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Indians. Here are all the teams that made it to the Postseason going by League. First the NL the wild card teams are obviously the Cincinnati Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates. The other three teams are the St. Louis Cardinals, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves. In the AL the wild card teams are of course the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Indians. The other three teams are the Boston Red Soxs, the Detroit Tigers and the Oakland Athletics. Good luck to all the teams and may the best team win this year’s World Series.
The 2013 Tennis U.S. Open
This years’ U.S. Open was from Aug 26 to Sep 9. The reigning champs are Andy Murray of Great Britain and Serena Williams of the USA. Maria Sharapova with drawled from the U.S. Open one week before with a shoulder injury. The finalists this year were Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal for the Men’s; Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka for the Women’s. This is the second year in a row that Serena and Victoria met in the finals of the U.S. Open. Both times Serena won; this is the first time since Venus Williams for women to win the U.S. Open two years in a row. This is the second year in a row that Novak Djokovic went to the finals he has lost both times. Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams are the 2013 Champions. Rafael Nadal has won his 2 U.S. Open and his 13 Grand Slam. Serena Williams has won her 5 U.S. Open and her 17 Grand Slam. Reigning Champ Andy Murray lost in the Quarterfinals to Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland.
In the First Round Serena beat Francesca Schiavone of Italy in two sets. In the Second Round she beat Galina Voskoboeva of Kazakhstan in two sets. In the Third Round she beat Yaroslova Shvedova of Kazakhstan in two sets. In the Fourth Round she beat Sloane Stephens of the USA in two sets. In the Quarterfinals she beat Carla Suarez-Navarro of Spain in two sets. In the Semifinals she beat Na Li of China in two sets. In the Finals she beat Victoria Azarenka of Belarus in three sets. She has beaten Victoria two years in a row.
In the First Round Rafael beat Ryan Harrison of the USA in three sets. In the Second Round he beat Rogerio Dutra Silva of Brazil in three sets. In the Third Round he beat Ivan Dodig of Croatia in three sets. In the Fourth Round he beat Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany in four sets. In the Quarterfinals he beat Tommy Robredo of Spain in three sets. In the Semifinals he beat Richard Gasquet of France in three sets. In the Finals he beat Novak Djokovic in five sets. This is the 37th time that Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal have met in a tournament. Nadal has a 22-15 advantage. In Grand Slams Nadal 8 wins and Djokovic 3 wins out of 11. Nadal also beat Djokovic in the 2008 Summer Olympics Semifinals. Nadal won the Gold Medal and Djokovic won the Bronze Medal.
Sport Events in October 2013
MLB: The playoffs start October 1st. I am not sure how many games there will be it all depends on how long each series last.
NFL: There are 57 games in the month of October. There is on game on the 31st of October. In week four the Green Bay Packers and the Carolina Panthers had a bye week. In week five the Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Washington Redskins have a bye week. In week six the Atlanta Falcons and the Miami Dolphins have a bye week. In week seven the New Orleans Saints and the Oakland Raiders have a bye week. In week eight the Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, San Diego Chargers, and the Tennessee Titans have a bye week.
NHL: The 2013-14 NHL season starts on October 1st. There will be 189 games in the month of October.
NBA: The 2013-14 NBA season starts on October 29th. There will be 19 games in the month of October.
Men’s Tennis: The ATP Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships and the ATP China Open are from Sep 30 to Oct 6. Shanghai Rolex Masters is from Oct 6 to 13. The ATP Erste Bank Open, the ATP Kremlin Cup; and the ATP Tour if…Stockholm Open are from Oct 14 to 20. The ATP Swiss Indoors Basel and the ATP Valencia Open 500 are from Oct 21 to 27. The ATP BNP Paribas Masters is from Oct 28 to Nov 3.
Women’s Tennis: The WTA Tour China Open is from Sep 28 to Oct 6. The WTA Generali Ladies Linz presented by voestalpine and the WTA HP Japan Women’s Open Tennis are from Oct 7 to 13. The WTA BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open and the WTA Kremlin Cup are from Oct 14 to 20. TEB BNP PARIBAS WTA Championships is from Oct 22 to 27. The WTA Qatar Airways Tournament of Champions is from Oct 29 to Nov 3; this is the end of the season for Women’s Tennis. See you next season.

European Golf Tour: The Seve Trophy presented by Golf+ is form Oct 3 to 6. The Portugal Masters is from Oct 10 to 13. The Perth International is from Oct 17 to 20. The BMW Masters presented by SRE Group is from Oct 24 to 27. The World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions is from Oct 31 to Nov 3.
Ladies PGA Golf Tour: The Reignwood Pine valley LPGA Classic is form Oct 3 to 6. The Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia is from Oct 10 to 13. The LPGA KEB – HanaBank Championship is from Oct 18 to 20. The Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship is from Oct 24 to 27.
