Dear Readers,
Happy October!
“I’m so glad we live in a world where there are Octobers.” ~Anne of Green Gables
I don’t know about you, but I think October is a wonderfully cool and cozy month of the year. You can feel it in the crisp fall air!
I love the colors of autumn foliage – watching the leaves and gradients of color as they start to change and turn into falling swirling hues of yellow, orange, and red.
It offers a precious reminder of how God can make imperfect, broken things – like crumbling, fallen leaves – beautiful in their own way.
Then there are the fun fall activities like apple picking at an orchard, drinking fresh pressed apple cider, and going to the pumpkin patch – picking a pumpkin, hay rides, corn mazes, caramel apples, kettle corn, and pumpkin carving!
The local farmer’s market in fall is bursting with the last of the harvest! And it’s so much more than just apples and pumpkins – there’s lots of other fall produce like cranberries, squash, sweet potatoes, and pears.
Fall weather is great for breaking out the mugs of hot chocolate with marshmallows. It’s also fun to pick out a costume, have a Halloween party, go trick or treating, and munch on candy corn (yep, I’m one of those people).
The nights are getting longer, so it seems like there’s more time for playing board games (Catan!), watching classic family movies with homemade popcorn, and catching up on reading in bed.
This fall, I hope you experience God’s bountiful goodness in a fresh, new way. Enjoy the season and don’t grow weary – God promises a harvest to those who don’t give up!
Happy Homeschooling!
