Dear Readers,
Happy New Year!
Since we didn’t publish a January issue this year, I wasn’t able to wish you a happy new year until now. But the greeting is still appropriate, because Chinese New Year is coming up!
In the Chinese Zodiac, each year brings its own animal sign and elemental influence. This year will be the “Year of the Fire Horse.” That brings to mind some cool imagery, doesn’t it!
Incidentally, the last Fire Horse year was way back in 1906 so enjoy it while you can!
The Lunar New Year is on February 17, 2026. So if you didn’t have a chance to make some New Year resolutions, you have a second chance!
I had such high hopes for January, making all kinds of plans for things to do and places to go while taking a break from publishing the magazine. Unfortunately, “The best laid plans of mice and men can still go awry.”
I didn’t get to do any of the things I had planned for my winter break. Instead of doing anything special, I was sick and tired with a horrible cough for a whole month. The cough and tiredness finally went away but then I woke up one morning with no voice! That was over a week ago and I still haven’t gotten it back. Ugh!
So I haven’t really been able to enjoy the new year so far, but I’m hoping I’ll have better luck the second time around. So here goes: Happy Chinese New Year!
How do you envision what a Fire Horse looks like? I’d love to see your interpretations! Send your fire horse pictures to mail@homeschoolingteen.com and we’ll post them in a future issue!
Happy Homeschooling!
