Slingshots have been around for over 2,000 years. The Bible tells us that a young shepherd named David killed the giant Philistine, Goliath, with a very accurately slung stone (1 Samuel 17:40-58). David had been using a slingshot to protect his father’s sheep, and spent many hours perfecting his aim, so he knew what he could do with it.
Historically, slingshots were used by ancient civilizations as weapons of war and as hunting tools. Today, the slingshot can be used as a hunting weapon or for recreational purposes. While it’s not a widely recognized sport, competitive slingshot shooting is also gaining in popularity. Slingshot competitions are held in some countries such as Spain, Italy, and China.
The MVAIXZG Slingshot with Wrist Brace is both stylish and practical. It can be used for target practice as well as for hunting. The power is doubled by using mechanical springs and rubber tubing. This slingshot has many built-in features including a magnetic holder for steel shot, plus a red dot laser and flashlight.
The slingshot set includes a 2.5” bullseye target made of reusable leather, 250 galvanized steel balls (7mm), and one extra piece of tubing. The slingshot’s ergonomic handle has a comfortable grip, feels hefty to hold, and has a nice green marble design. Some minor assembly is required using the enclosed allen wrenches. Simply follow the full-color illustrated instruction sheet.
This wristrocket-style slingshot is not a toy, and it should be used only with adult supervision. As the box states, “Prohibit Targeting People.” That being said, the slingshot can be a fun hobby for parents, older children and teens. It’s a quiet sport that can provide hours of enjoyment in your own backyard. WHACK goes the aluminum can!
Slingshots teach responsibility while improving concentration and hand-eye coordination away from screens. The wrist support on this slingshot provides balance while aiming. The set comes in a nice box suitable for gift giving. I just wish it had a storage bag like I thought it would. I had to find a carrying case to keep all the parts together. Once you assemble the slingshot, it won’t fit back into the box.
The case will need to be at least 7” x 7” x 10” (about the size of an adult lunch box) to fit the slingshot. The ones that are sold as slingshot cases are all too small for this type of wrist slingshot. I’m using a FlowFly lunch box. This lunch box comes in many different colors and designs. I got the digital camo one. They also have other camo patterns, plus Army green and brown, tactical black, and a couple of blue denim ones, as well as more colorful prints. The front zippered pouch and mesh pockets on the sides are handy for storing the small accessories, as well as a water bottle for you when you go outside.
By the way, if you don’t want to use steel balls, you can use biodegradable clay ammo, which are also a little bit bigger than the steel shot, 10mm instead of 7mm.
The target that comes with the MVAIXZG slingshot is small, but it works. You can also get creative and make your own targets out of cardboard and other household trash!
Have fun and aim high!
