Ministers & Moviemakers
Founders of Abba Heart Ministries, Eric and Kameron Swithin are the creators, directors, and executive producers of SHOW ME YOUR GLORY. This is their second film after previously releasing THE FATHERLESS EPIDEMIC. Eric is both an artist and a minister; he loves how Jesus used stories to teach His disciples and wants to do the same. Kameron is the lead singer and songwriter for the original songs in SHOW ME YOUR GLORY: “Your Heart Bleeds” and “You Heal Me.” Together, the couple also wrote the companion book for the movie with the same title.
Review
SHOW ME YOUR GLORY is a documentary film that features true stories of real-life miracles and supernatural encounters. It aims to address profound questions about human suffering and divine intervention. I love Christian productions, and this one is no exception. But I must admit, it hit me hard. Starting about halfway through, I kept having to hold back tears and finally I broke out sobbing. Watching this film is a very powerful and emotional experience that will stay with you for a long time afterward.
SHOW ME YOUR GLORY is very visually engaging for a documentary. (There is one brief sequence with flashing lights that may affect those susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy.) I’d recommend this film for teens and adults, but not for children because it’s full of mature themes. For one thing, it starts out with a shocking scene more akin to an action thriller! This film features a former Hezbollah soldier. It refers to a former stripper and prostitute. It goes inside a tattoo parlor, and it shows an attempted suicide. There is a heroin abuser, and a young warlock with a pentagram.
That’s some pretty dark stuff! The amazing thing is that every one of these seemingly lost souls miraculously comes to the light! They each have a supernatural encounter in which they meet Jesus and He changes their lives completely. Now imagine these very same people using their unique backgrounds and new-found faith to reach hurting people in similar desperate circumstances, who otherwise might never feel welcome in a church or worthy enough to be forgiven.
One interesting statistic in the documentary states that of all the Muslims who convert to Christianity, 80% of them did so through a supernatural event. Think about it, in the deepest heart of the strictest Islamic countries where simply being caught with a Bible is a death sentence, how else are these people going to hear about Jesus unless from Christ Himself?
Besides the dramatic and sensational stories, SHOW ME YOUR GLORY also features ordinary people and children who were sick or injured and miraculously healed. Then there are those whose own miracle never comes but they inspire others. It’s really sad to see little children suffer, but God can even bring good from that suffering. This film also offers a reasonable explanation of why God doesn’t answer every prayer. Simply put, His actions are often beyond human understanding. Place your faith in Him, and He will comfort you even when He doesn’t provide the miracle you prayed for.
This documentary is mind-blowing yet theologically sound. It’s based on Exodus 33:18-19 in which Moses said, “Now show me your glory.” And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”
Just so you know, this documentary has nothing to do with faith healing. In fact, at one point the director of SHOW ME YOUR GLORY emphasizes that many people are disillusioned by so-called faith healers who are just in it for themselves. While some people are divinely healed in this film, the parts that stood out to me the most focused on those with no knowledge of the One True God – atheists, pagans, Muslims – who are miraculously visited by Jesus and then become devout believers. How cool is that!
If you are skeptical, suffering, or searching, hopefully this documentary will help you. Go with someone you love to see SHOW ME YOUR GLORY when it’s in theaters May 13th-15th! Watching it is an especially meaningful experience for anyone who has endured loss, struggled with unanswered prayers, or simply longed for reassurance that God still moves today. It’s a much-needed reminder that God is always present, even in our darkest moments. This film touched me deeply and it’s given me a lot to think about.
