A nation’s armed forces constitute its combined military services. Armed Forces Day is a holiday dedicated to honoring the men and women currently serving in the U.S. military by recognizing their service, commitment, and role in national defense.

Modern armed forces are commonly divided into specialized branches dealing with land, naval, and air warfare, and, by definition in U.S. law, space as well. These branches consist of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Space Force.

Armed Forces Day honors all active-duty service members across all military branches, including Reserve and National Guard members. It is distinct from:

Veterans Day, which honors all who previously served.

Memorial Day, which honors those who died in service.

“Most Americans know Memorial Day and Veterans Day by heart. Armed Forces Day? Not so much. And that’s a problem, because this is the one day specifically set aside for the men and women currently wearing the uniform.” —Anton F., Proud & Free

Armed Forces Day is held annually on the third Saturday in May. It will be observed on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

Armed Forces Day celebrations often include:

Military parades

Base open houses

Air shows

Educational events for families

Displays of military equipment

Community ceremonies and flag observance

These events help educate the public about military life and encourage them to show appreciation for those serving.

How You Can Honor Active-Duty Troops:

Fly the American flag.

Write a letter to a deployed service member.

Send a care package.

Donate to a military nonprofit (USO, Fisher House Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project, etc.)

Attend a local event.

Post on social media explaining what the day is about.

Thank a service member face to face.

Support a military family.

Wear a patriotic t-shirt.

History and Purpose:

Armed Forces Day was created in 1949 after the National Security Act of 1947 unified the military under the Department of Defense. The first nationwide observance took place on May 20, 1950.

The purpose of Armed Forces Day is to increase public understanding of the military’s role, showcase equipment and capabilities, and strengthen civilian-military connections.

By Teri O.

We have a couple of salt lamps at home, and a jar of Himalayan Pink Salt in the kitchen. So what’s the big deal about Himalayan salt, anyway? Himalayan salt may look exotic and get marketed as a miracle mineral, but the science says that it’s basically just… salt. Chemically, it’s still mostly composed of sodium chloride, the same as table salt. The real “big deal” comes from its natural appeal.

Himalayan salt is a pink rock salt mined primarily from the Khewra Salt Mine in Punjab, Pakistan. This mine is one of the world’s largest and oldest salt deposits, dating back to 326 BC when Alexander the Great’s troops reportedly discovered the salt deposits after their horses began licking the rocks. The mine is the main source of Himalayan salt for both table salt and salt lamps.

Himalayan Salt vs Table Salt

Himalayan salt is readily available in most grocery stores. It has a pretty pink color due to iron oxides. The salt also contains trace minerals like magnesium, potassium, and calcium. But those minerals exist in such tiny amounts that they don’t really provide any meaningful health benefits compared to regular table salt. Nutritionally, table salt and Himalayan salt are nearly identical (and so is sea salt).

However, one bad thing about regular table salt is that it’s highly processed and often contains anti‑caking agents. Himalayan salt is not refined or iodized like many table salts. So if you prefer less processing and like the look of larger crystals, you may choose to use Himalayan salt.

Like all salts, Himalayan salt provides sodium, which helps maintain fluid balance and supports rehydration after sweating. But since Himalayan salt is still salt, most people should stay under 2,300 mg of sodium per day—which is about one teaspoon of any salt. That’s because too much sodium raises blood pressure and increases the risk of heart disease and strokes.

Himalayan Salt Lamps

Himalayan salt lamps (which can be rough-hewn or shaped into spheres or blocks) can be a pleasant addition to your home environment. Many people appreciate their aesthetic appeal and the soothing atmosphere they create. When a light bulb or candle is placed inside, the salt emits an orange-pink glow when lit. This can support relaxation, meditation, or winding down at night, but any other health claims are overstated or lack scientific evidence. So think of salt lamps as mood lighting, not a medical device. Nevertheless, Himalayan salt lamps are still believed by many to improve air quality and health.

Some proponents claim that these lamps can ease asthma or allergy symptoms by trapping dust, pollen, smoke, and other airborne irritants in the salt’s surface. This effect would be extremely small, however, and a salt lamp is no substitute for an air purifier with a HEPA filter. Similarly, while halotherapy in salt caves has shown limited benefits for certain respiratory conditions, there is no conclusive evidence that Himalayan salt lamps produce enough salt particles to replicate these effects at home. Some salt lamp enthusiasts also suggest that they release negative ions, potentially boosting mood or energy, but any ion output is far lower than natural sources like waterfalls.

In summary, Himalayan salt lamps are lovely decorative objects. They may be enjoyed for their aesthetic and ambient lighting qualities, which can contribute to a sense of cozy comfort in your bedroom, living space, or work space. The soft warm glow of salt lamps can create a calming ambiance, which may help reduce stress and anxiety. I personally use mine as a night light, because the reddish tint doesn’t interfere with my night vision or disturb my sleep. Nevertheless, these lamps are basically just a big chunk of rock salt and should not be relied upon as a natural remedy or therapeutic device, since their air purification and health claims lack strong scientific support.

Additional Considerations

Himalayan salt lamps are generally safe to use but should be kept away from pets and children to prevent ingestion of salt. Also, any kind of moisture whether from high humidity or fingerprints can dissolve the salt. Himalayan salt lamps are hygroscopic, meaning they attract water molecules from the air, resulting in the visible “sweating” or even puddles on the lamp’s base. So avoid placing your salt lamp near kitchens, bathrooms, or open windows. If the lamp is not used frequently or doesn’t receive adequate sunlight, and you live in a humid environment, it may also accumulate moisture. Wipe it down regularly with a dry cloth or turn the light on for a while. As the salt lamp warms, the water will evaporate.

Find the perfect Himalayan salt lamp to fit your space and style here.

AI Algorithm Image by Geralt from Pixabay

Many social media users don’t realize how algorithms shape what they see and how they behave. An algorithm is the automated system that a platform uses to decide what content shows up in your feed, in what order, and from whom.

The core idea is simple: there’s far more content than any person could scroll through, so the platform uses math, data, and predictions to curate your feed. An algorithm is like a ranking program that analyzes your behavior and then prioritizes posts it thinks you’ll engage with most.

Algorithms are powerful — and sometimes controversial — because they influence what people believe, buy, and talk about.

Algorithms influence:

What news you see

How businesses reach customers

How trends spread

Which creators go viral

How long you stay on the app

Social media algorithms profile users quickly — sometimes within minutes — based on micro‑behaviors like pauses and rewatches. Teens can outsmart these algorithms by understanding how feeds are shaped, diversifying what they interact with, and using intentional habits that disrupt algorithmic profiling. These strategies help you stay in control instead of being controlled by endless-scroll systems designed to maximize engagement.

Below are some simple steps you can take to actively reshape your feeds and reduce algorithmic influence.

Use Privacy and Safety Settings

Adjust privacy controls so platforms collect less data, reducing how precisely the algorithm can target you.

Learn How Algorithms Track You

Every like, pause, skip, and comment teaches the app what to show next. The feed you see is not neutral — it’s engineered to keep you scrolling. So you need to practice mindful scrolling and learn to recognize when a feed becomes unhealthy, or even potentially harmful, with emotionally intense or anxiety‑inducing content.

Avoid Clickbait and Sensational Posts

Selective engagement and avoiding clickbait prevents the algorithm from pushing dramatic or misleading content. It’s best to ignore exaggerated, fake, and AI-generated content because interacting with it trains the algorithm to send more of the same. Aim for real content that’s educational and informative, so you don’t waste your time just filling your head with nonsense.

Mix Up What You Follow

Be aware of algorithmic influences. Diversifying interactions and following a wide variety of interests forces the system to broaden recommendations so the algorithm cannot trap you in a narrow loop of similar content.

Don’t Let Your Social Media Become an Echo Chamber

Actively seek out diverse sources, and engage with differing opinions. A social media echo chamber only reinforces views that align with your own, preventing you from being exposed to different perspectives. This can lead to intellectual isolation and extreme viewpoints.

Be Selective with Likes

Don’t indiscriminately tap “like” on everything. Selective engagement keeps your personalized feed healthier and more intentional. Try to aim for more lighthearted content and less stressful content.

Take Regular Breaks

Digital detox breaks interrupt the feedback loop that makes feeds increasingly extreme or repetitive, and also help you return with a clearer sense of what you really want to see.

Practice Critical Thinking

Ask Yourself: “Why do I think the app showed me this?” This builds algorithmic awareness.

Create More Than You Consume

Work on posting your own creative projects or hobbies, which shifts your engagement patterns to you being in control rather than merely watching other people’s stuff.

Extra Tips for Parents

When you think of Christian holidays, the first two that come to mind are Christmas and Easter. But there are also many other Christian holidays throughout the year, even if they aren’t as popular as Easter or Christmas.

In May 2026, the main Christian holidays are Ascension Day (May 14), Pentecost (May 24), Whit Monday (May 25), and Trinity Sunday (May 31). All but the last one are Christian movable feasts that depend on the date of Easter.

Ascension Day — Thursday, May 14, 2026

Ascension Day commemorates the event described in Luke 24, Mark 16, and Acts 1, where Jesus ascends into heaven 40 days after the Resurrection. Ascension Day is celebrated by many major Christian traditions, including Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans, Methodists, Moravians, Eastern Orthodox, and Oriental Orthodox churches.

Pentecost — Sunday, May 24, 2026

Pentecost occurs 50 days after Easter, and is often called the “birthday of the Church.” Pentecost commemorates the moment described in Acts 2 when the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles. It marks the beginning of Christian mission — the point when the apostles began preaching to the world. Because it celebrates the Holy Spirit’s empowerment of believers, Pentecost is central to nearly all historic Christian traditions. It ranks right behind Easter and Christmas in importance, especially in those with a strong liturgical calendar. Pentecost is observed by Catholics, Orthodox, Anglicans, Lutherans, and many other Christians. It’s the final climax of the Easter season.

Whit Monday (Pentecost Monday) — Monday, May 25, 2026

Whit Monday (also called Pentecost Monday) is the day after Pentecost. Whit Monday is essentially the continuation of the feast celebrating the descent of the Holy Spirit — the second day in a multi‑day festival. The name “Whit” comes from “White,” referring to the white garments worn by those baptized at Pentecost in early Christianity. Whit Monday is observed by Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans, and Eastern Orthodox Christians, especially in some European and African countries where it remains a public holiday. This year, Whit Monday falls on the same day as Memorial Day, which honors U.S. military personnel who died in service.

Trinity Sunday — Sunday, May 31, 2026

Trinity Sunday is the only major Christian feast not tied to a specific biblical event, but instead highlights a core doctrine that shapes Christian worship, prayer, and theology. Trinity Sunday is a Christian feast dedicated to celebrating the mystery of the Holy Trinity — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The feast developed in the early Middle Ages and became universal in the Western Church by the 14th century. It always falls on the Sunday after Pentecost and is observed by Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, Methodist, Reformed, and many other Protestant traditions. It’s a time to sing hymns emphasizing the Trinity (e.g., Holy, Holy, Holy), and the Nicene Creed is often emphasized because of its Trinitarian structure.

Which of these Christian holidays does your church or family celebrate?

In general, the most popular careers tend to be those with the largest number of workers (like retail and food service), while the most productive or high‑value careers—measured by salary, growth, and impact—are concentrated in technology and healthcare.

So… what are the most popular productive careers?

The most popular productive careers today tend to be those with strong job growth, high salaries, and long‑term stability—especially in healthcare, technology, business, and skilled trades.

Based on recent U.S. labor market data, here are the top categories and roles that rank as the most productive and popular.

1. Healthcare Careers (High Demand + High Impact)

Healthcare dominates nearly every ranking due to aging populations and expanding medical needs.

Top roles:

Nurse Practitioner — Ranked the #1 Best Job in the U.S. for 2026, nurse practitioner is one of the fastest‑growing jobs with high median pay.

Physician Assistant — Strong demand and excellent salary.

Medical & Health Services Manager — Oversees healthcare operations; strong growth.

Home Health & Personal Care Aides — Rapid growth due to elder care needs.

Why productive: These roles directly improve health outcomes and are essential to society.

Why popular: Healthcare careers are popular because they offer high demand, strong job security, diverse career paths, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives.

2. Technology & Cybersecurity Careers (High Growth + High Salary)

Tech remains one of the most productive sectors due to digital transformation and AI adoption.

Top roles:

Software Developer — High pay and long‑term demand.

Information Security Analyst — Cybersecurity demand is skyrocketing, so this role offers strong purpose and job stability. It ranks #4 in 100 Best Jobs.

Data Scientist — Among high‑paying roles, data scientists report the highest job satisfaction.

Computer & Information Research Scientist — High pay and innovation‑driven.

Why productive: These careers build and protect the digital infrastructure that modern life depends on.

Why popular: Cybersecurity and tech careers are popular because nearly every industry depends on digital systems that must be built, secured, and maintained.

3. Business, Finance & Operations (Stable + High Responsibility)

These roles keep organizations running efficiently and profitably.

Top roles:

Financial Manager — With a high salary and strong demand, it’s ranked #2 in 100 Best Jobs.

General & Operations Manager — Large number of openings and stable growth.

Accountant & Auditor — Consistent demand across industries.

Why productive: These roles optimize resources, finances, and organizational performance.

Why popular: Many business and finance roles offer strong earning potential while only requiring moderate education and training.

4. Skilled Trades & Infrastructure (Hands‑On + High Need)

As infrastructure ages and demand grows, skilled trades remain essential. Electricians, HVAC technicians, plumbers, welders, and infrastructure engineers are among the most in-demand and well-paying skilled trade roles today, with strong growth and job security.

Top roles:

Solar Photovoltaic Installer — Driven by renewable energy expansion.

Electrician — Electricians are always in demand.

HVAC Technician — HVAC is the fastest-growing trade.

Why productive: These jobs build and maintain the physical systems that society relies on.

Why popular: Skilled trades are popular because they offer strong job security, high demand, good wages, and faster, lower‑cost pathways into stable careers.

5. Mental Health & Social Services (Growing Need)

Demand is rising for professionals to offer support for emotional and psychological well‑being due to increasing societal stressors and greater awareness that help is available.

Top roles:

Substance Abuse & Mental Health Counselors — Strong growth and societal importance.

Psychiatric Technicians — Growing need in mental health facilities.

Why productive: The expanding demand for these professionals makes the field attractive for job stability and long‑term career prospects

Why popular: Many professionals describe these personally meaningful and socially impactful careers as a calling rather than just a job.

You can even mix and match more than one industry. For example, combine your interests in healthcare, technology, and business by becoming a Healthcare IT Manager. A Healthcare IT Manager oversees the information technology operations within a healthcare organization, ensuring efficient, secure, and compliant IT systems that enhance patient care and operational efficiency.

Do any of these careers appeal to you?

AI Generated Student by Geralt from Pixabay

A strong college planning timeline starts early: build academic habits in middle school, deepen coursework and activities in grades 9-10, then focus heavily on testing, essays, and applications in grades 11-12. Below is a clear, structured roadmap based on widely used guidance from college planning organizations and admissions offices.

Middle School (6th–8th Grade): Foundation

Strengthen core academics — reading, writing, and math readiness.

Build study and time‑management habits that will carry into high school.

Explore interests through electives, clubs, and community activities.

Visit local colleges casually to become familiar with institutions of higher learning.

9th Grade: Start Strong

Plan courses aligned with long‑term goals.

Prioritize grades — early GPA matters.

Join extracurriculars and begin consistent involvement.

Shadow a professional or explore career assessments.

10th Grade: Build Momentum

Take rigorous courses and maintain/improve GPA.

Learn about SAT/ACT and take the PSAT for practice.

Continue extracurriculars and consider leadership roles.

Start a preliminary college list (10-15 schools).

11th Grade: The Critical Year

Fall

Narrow your college list and research admissions/financial fit.

Take challenging courses (AP/IB/honors).

Begin SAT/ACT prep; take the PSAT/NMSQT if applicable.

Winter/Spring

Take SAT/ACT (first attempt).

Build a résumé of activities and awards.

Start brainstorming your personal statement.

Summer

Take a summer course at a local college and/or your dream college if possible.

Research scholarships and note deadlines.

Draft supplemental essays.

Finalize your college list (reach, match, and safety).

12th Grade: Applications & Decisions

Fall

Begin the Common App or Coalition App.

Write essays. (Admission counselors can read up to 40 essays per day so think about how to make your essay as distinctive as you are.)

Request recommendation letters early.

Submit FAFSA/CSS profile as early as possible.

Submit Early Action/Early Decision applications if applicable.

Winter

Complete all Regular Decision applications.

Apply for scholarships with winter/spring deadlines.

Spring

Compare financial aid offer.

Attend admitted‑student events.

Make your final decision by May 1.

Complete all enrollment tasks.

Summer

Register for classes, buy books, prepare for orientation, and celebrate.

Finally, this is the moment where planning ends and college life begins. Because everything before this—researching schools, visiting campuses, applying, comparing financial aid—leads to one decision: where you will actually attend. Once you enroll and complete the onboarding steps, you’re no longer planning for college; you’re starting it. Congratulations!

Have you developed an original curriculum or course that you’re thinking of selling to homeschoolers? Perhaps it’s a unique high school elective that you put together for your teen, and you think others might appreciate it, too. Or maybe you’re a homeschool graduate who has created a helpful college prep guide for homeschooled high school students. Selling curriculum, classes, and supplements to homeschoolers is all about building trust, fostering community, and demonstrating that your educational products genuinely understand and address their particular needs.

Finding Opportunities

Here’s a comprehensive guide to approach this:

Understand Your Audience

Homeschooling families value flexibility, personalized learning, and often seek curriculum that aligns with their unique educational philosophies—whether that’s academic excellence, religious values, or a blend of both. Start by researching the specific challenges homeschoolers face, such as curriculum gaps, scheduling needs, or the desire for interactive, engaging content. Use surveys, social media polls, and informal conversations in homeschool groups to fine-tune your understanding. This deep insight will help you tailor your offerings to solve real-life problems.

Develop High-Quality, Relevant Content

Whether you’re offering a complete curriculum or specialized classes, your content must be robust and adaptable.

Curriculum Design: Create materials that are comprehensive yet flexible enough to be modified for different learning styles. Include clear objectives, structured lesson plans, suggested activities, and even digital resources like videos or interactive elements.

Live Classes & Webinars: When selling classes, consider offering both live sessions and self-paced modules. Live classes add a personal touch and community feel, while recorded sessions enable flexibility for busy families.

Free Samples & Previews: Offer a few sample lessons or trial classes to give homeschoolers a feel for your teaching style and the quality of your curriculum. This builds trust and lowers the barrier to entry for new customers.

Build an Engaging Online Presence

Your digital footprint is your storefront.

Website & Landing Pages: Develop a clean, informative website that clearly lays out your offerings, showcases sample materials, and includes testimonials from homeschool families who have benefited from your curriculum.

Content Marketing: Blog posts, video tutorials, and social media content that address common homeschooling challenges can attract organic traffic. SEO-rich articles about homeschooling tips or curriculum planning can position you as an expert in the field.

Email Marketing: Create a newsletter that offers tips, updates, and exclusive discounts. This not only nurtures leads, but also keeps your community engaged over time.

Leverage Social Media & Homeschool Communities

Homeschoolers are active in online communities where word-of-mouth and trusted recommendations go a long way.

Join Homeschool Groups: Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest host numerous homeschool groups and pages where you can share tips, host Q&A sessions, and gently promote your products. Engage authentically—offer help, answer questions, and share success stories rather than overtly “selling” at first.

Local & Online Marketplaces: Some homeschool families discover resources through local buy-sell-trade groups or dedicated curriculum swap pages. Even if these groups often feature used materials, they are excellent for networking and establishing credibility.

Partnerships & Collaborations: Consider partnerships with established homeschool influencers, bloggers, or co-op groups. Hosting joint webinars or guest-blogging can significantly boost your visibility.

Pricing, Packaging, and Promotions

Bundling: Offer curriculum bundles that include both written materials and access to live or recorded classes. Bundles can provide more value and create a sense of a complete “education package.”

Flexible Payment Options: Consider subscription models for ongoing classes or one-off purchase options for standalone courses. Offering payment plans or discounts for long-term commitments can also attract families mindful of budget constraints.

Referral Programs: Implement referral incentives where satisfied customers can earn discounts or bonuses by recommending your curriculum to other homeschoolers.

Attend and Host Homeschool Events

Being visible in the homeschool community through events—both in-person and virtual—is essential.

Exhibitions & Conferences: Look for local homeschool fairs, conventions, or educational conferences where you can showcase your books, curriculum, or other resources.

Young Entrepreneurs: Some state homeschool organizations have a Young Entrepreneurs program, which sets aside booth space at their annual convention where homeschooled students and graduates can display, promote, and sell products they have created, built, or developed themselves or services they offer utilizing their own skills. Did you just publish your first novel? This is a great place to showcase it!

Workshops & Open Houses: Host free or low-cost workshops that give homeschoolers a taste of your classes. This live interaction not only builds credibility but also allows you to receive immediate feedback to refine your offerings.

Gather and Leverage Testimonials

Successful outcomes and positive testimonials are powerful trust signals.

Feedback Loops: After delivering classes or curriculum, actively request feedback and encourage families to leave reviews.

Success Stories: Showcase case studies or video testimonials from homeschoolers who have achieved notable results with your products. These real-life examples can ease concerns and inspire new customers to try your offerings.

Selling curriculum and classes to homeschoolers involves thoughtful engagement at every touchpoint. By understanding their needs, delivering high-quality content, leveraging the power of community, and maintaining transparent, value-driven communication, you’ll not only attract homeschooling families but also foster lasting relationships that drive long-term success.

Overcoming Challenges

When selling to homeschoolers, you can expect several unique challenges that require a thoughtful, community-centric approach. Here are some of the key hurdles you should be prepared to address:

Overcoming Skepticism and Building Trust

Homeschooling parents make educational decisions with great care since they’re responsible for their children’s personalized learning journey. Many are naturally cautious about trying new products, especially when they perceive them as coming from mainstream or corporate sources. They tend to rely on recommendations from trusted community figures or from peers who have already had success with a resource. As a result, initially penetrating this market can be difficult unless you clearly demonstrate value and authenticity upfront. Avoid heavy-handed sales techniques or educational jargon that may alienate rather than engage them.

Diverse Backgrounds and Varied Educational Philosophies

Homeschool families are hardly a monolith. They come from varied cultural, religious, and philosophical backgrounds that influence how they view education. What appeals to one subgroup may not resonate with another. Your curriculum and class offerings must therefore be innovative yet adaptable enough to meet a range of educational values—from classical studies and faith-based education to unschooling and progressive learning approaches. This diversity means segmenting your messaging and sometimes even customizing portions of your content to appeal to the particular needs of different communities.

Competing with Free or Low-Cost Resources

The homeschooling arena often abounds with free resources available online. Many parents actively engage in communities where members share lesson plans, activities, and other educational materials. This abundance of free content means that your product needs to clearly distinguish itself by offering a unique value proposition—whether that be through a higher quality of curriculum design, interactive elements, or measurable learning outcomes. Articulating this differentiated benefit is crucial for convincing parents to invest in your offerings rather than using resources they can find at no cost.

Navigating Communication and Marketing Styles

Homeschool families are particularly sensitive to language and tone. Educational jargon and impersonal marketing approaches can turn them away. Instead, you’ll need to use everyday, accessible language that reflects their values and priorities. It’s important for your messaging to be transparent, relatable, and free of buzzwords that may seem dismissive of their unique approach to education. The goal is to strike the right balance between professionalism and a personal touch that resonates with a family-centered audience.

Establishing Credibility Through Genuine Community Engagement

Because of the intimate and family-centered nature of homeschooling, endorsements come from within the community. Parents favor recommendations from trusted peers or established homeschool influencers over advertisements. This means that traditional marketing channels might not be as effective. Instead, you may need to invest time in becoming an active, trusted contributor in homeschool forums, social media groups, and local events. Offering free trials, interactive webinars, or detailed previews can help establish credibility and lower the barrier for new users to try your products.

Looking Ahead

Successfully navigating these challenges means continually engaging with the community and refining your offerings in response to real feedback. By demonstrating a genuine understanding of the homeschool ethos, emphasizing quality and personalization in your curriculum, and prioritizing transparent, relatable communication, you will be better positioned to overcome obstacles and build lasting relationships with your audience. If you are an experienced homeschool parent or successful homeschool graduate, you already have an advantage in selling to homeschoolers. Good luck with your endeavor, and just so you know, we’d be glad to promote your product on HomeschoolingTeen.com! [Contact: mail@homeschoolingteen.com]

“I might not know who I was yesterday or who I’m going to be tomorrow, but I know who I am right now.” —Sabrina Carpenter

Sabrina Carpenter is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She was born on May 11, 1999, in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. She started homeschooling at a young age, partly because she felt safer learning that way after experiencing bullying. Later on, it was a deliberate choice that gave her the flexibility and safety she needed to pursue her entertainment career from childhood onward.

Sabrina wasn’t just casually homeschooled — she was homeschooled so she could focus on auditions, music, and creative work. Homeschooling throughout her teen years allowed her to balance acting, recording, and travel. She completed her high‑school education through online schooling, specifically the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School (PA Cyber).

Carpenter has built a strong fanbase partly through her work in film and television, which introduced her to audiences before her music career took off. Sabrina first became known for her early rise through Disney Channel. She gained major attention playing Maya Hart on the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World (2014-2017), and she appeared in multiple films such as:

Adventures in Babysitting (2016)

The Hate U Give (2018)

Clouds (2020)

Emergency (2022)

She also starred in Netflix films like Tall Girl and Work It, and played Cady Heron on Broadway in Mean Girls (2020).

Sabrina Carpenter successfully transitioned from Disney star to globally recognized pop artist by combining a massive musical breakout in 2024-2025 with a strong streaming performance, viral hits, and high-profile tours. Carpenter has had several successful albums:

Emails I Can’t Send (2022) — included hits like “Nonsense” and “Feather”

Short n’ Sweet (2024) — topped the Billboard 200 and earned two Grammy Awards, producing global #1 singles “Espresso” and “Please Please Please”

Man’s Best Friend (2025) — also a Billboard 200 #1, featuring the hit “Manchild”

Sabrina’s ability to playfully blend genres — from disco and funk to pop ballads — has made the petite pop princess a versatile and marketable artist. According to Discogs:

“Carpenter’s sound features a mix of R&B vocal patterns, colorful synths, funky guitar rhythms, and punchy drums, all wrapped in light disco packaging. Together, the result is mid-tempo, pop perfection. With elements stemming from several genres, there’s a lot to love about her sound.”

In April 2026, 26-year-old Sabrina was a headliner performer at the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California. She also made headlines after bringing 67-year-old Madonna onstage for a surprise cameo. They performed “Vogue,” “Like a Prayer,” and an unreleased track together. This was 20 years after Madonna performed her own headlining set at the music festival back in 2006. Carpenter has cited Madonna along with Christina Aguilera and Rihanna as her main musical inspirations.

Sabrina’s catchy pop songs, charismatic stage presence, and fashion sense all help people to connect with her on multiple levels. Her public image as a confident, self-aware artist who embraces her individuality and lives authentically also contributes to her appeal and certainly helps to enhance that connection.

You can like Sabrina Carpenter without loving her music — for example, if you admire her as an actress, former homeschooler, or public figure — but most people who “like” her in a broad sense are also drawn to her songs. In fact, her public persona often mirrors themes in her music — female empowerment, bold self-expression, and sassy vulnerability — all of which resonate with fans and have become a signature element of her artistic identity.

“We all have stories for a reason, and if we keep them to ourselves, I don’t feel they would help anybody.” —Sabrina Carpenter

Dear Readers,

Happy May!

May is special because it marks the height of spring and is packed with holidays like Mother’s Day, Armed Forces Day, and Memorial Day, as well as religious observances centered on and around Pentecost.

Since so many traditions and celebrations cluster in this month, it’s one of the most event‑filled periods of the year. May is widely associated with graduations, flower gardens, warmer weather, and the sense that summer is just around the corner.

May always feels like a turning point, which it is. May invites us to pause and appreciate growth—not just the kind we see around us, but our own personal progress.

Remember that progress isn’t always loud or linear. Sometimes progress is quiet and meandering deep within. My hope is that you will be encouraged in your own journey this month.

Try to make the most of May this year. Whether you’re planting something new, planning a summer adventure, or simply taking a moment to breathe in the warm air, I hope it sparks joy in your heart and gives you energy for the busy times ahead.

Happy Homeschooling! And a very Happy Mother’s Day to any moms reading this!
